Institutional Review Board (IRB) Information
Traditionally, when submitting an IRB to Jamaica and Flushing IRBs via IRBNet, the CITI trainings that are necessary are reliant on the type of the study (retrospective vs. prospective).
For retrospective studies, it was required to complete the human subjects CITI training certificate (the biomedical research certificate was also accepted if already completed).
-
If someone has not completed any sort of certificate, they should complete the human subject CITI training.
For prospective studies involving direct human contact/subjects, the IRBNet requires both the human subjects/biomedical research AND the Good Clinical Practice (GCP)-US FDA Focus CITI training.
Now, Jamaica and Flushing IRBs are mandating that for ANY study type, all student members must submit both human subjects/biomedical and GCP. Human subject CITI training certificate is preferred over biomedical research.
